HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMIC UPDATE
Can you believe its already October! The first month of school has flown by and we are so happy to see both staff and students settling into the FEIA Campus nicely.
With COVID-19 ever so present, we’ve been extra diligent in monitoring the mental health and wellbeing of our student population. We have observed concern from our high school students about feeling overloaded in balancing both schoolwork and after school activities.
As a result, as of Monday, October 5th, FEIA will switch to a two course timetable. Students will continue on with two of their existing four courses until they complete the Ministry of Education requirement of 110 hours per course in late November. Then, on November 25th, they will pick up where they left off with the other two courses they are currently taking to then complete them by January 29th, 2021.
STUDENTS CAN SUPPORT THE ROTARY CLUB OF FORT ERIE
In support of the Fort Erie Rotary Club, we have a couple of volunteer opportunities in the near future. Please encourage your high school children to sign up on the student bulletin board:
The first option is on Saturday, October 17th from 11am to approximately 2pm whereby volunteers will deliver 500 flyers to local homes in the Bridgeburg District. This opportunity does not require any personal communication or contact, and as such, is COVID safe.
The second option also takes place in the Bridgeburg District on Saturday, October 24th from 11am to approximately 3pm. Volunteers will be asked to collect donations. With that, this option involves knocking on doors requesting donations. Donations will be poured by homeowners into a container through a funnel so not contact need be made.
FEIA FALCONS UPDATE
Front Row Sports delivered our new pant shells, gloves and helmets this week. Head Principal Stella and Coach Jesse had some fun testing them out!
On Friday, October 9th the Falcons will be participating in their first away games. Our U18 Elite team will be visiting the A21 Academy in Windsor with Coaches Carson & Jon, while Coaches Jesse & Matt will take our U16 team to compete against Blyth Academy in Burlington.
Please note SPECTATORS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE ARENAS for the safety of our students.
We are working on being able to live stream our games in the near future so that we can all cheer on the Falcons at future games from the safety of our screens.
CALLING ALL CHEFS
We’re very excited to report that the brand new, state of the art kitchen at the high school is almost ready! In that, we are looking to bring on a Head Chef to take ownership of FEIA’s culinary needs.
If you have experience in designing nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, in establishing and managing supplier relationships, can hire and manage a culinary staff and are an expert in crafting and serving meals all while staying on budget, let us know by sharing your cover letter and resume with us at firstname.lastname@example.org
With that, we humbly thank Your Farm Gate in Ridgeway for stepping up to have fed our students heathy AND delicious meals in the short term; our staff and students very much appreciate what you did for us & we wish you all the best.
FEIA FALCONS UPDATE
Orange Shirt Day is a legacy of the St. Joseph Mission (SJM) Residential School (1891-1981) Commemoration Project and Reunion events that took place in Williams Lake, BC, Canada, in May 2013. The events were designed to commemorate the residential school experience, to witness and honour the healing journey of the survivors and their families, and to commit to the ongoing process of reconciliation. Orange Shirt Day is a legacy of this project.
FEIA Staff and students proudly wore Orange this past Wednesday in support.
