March 30, 2020
To our Fort Erie Community and FEIA Family,
As we are all aware, COVID-19 has changed the current social landscape and has had a profound effect on businesses, schools, and communities. To this end, the Leadership Team at FEIA has been monitoring the situation closely and working hard to ensure that we are meeting all standards and guidelines set out by the federal and provincial governments.
We are so appreciative of the support we have received from the Fort Erie community since we opened our doors in September 2019 and, in the interest of transparency, we wanted to share with you how this virus has affected us.
As part of the effort to flatten the curve and help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the provincial government recently mandated that both public and private schools close their doors to students and staff; encouraging them to stay home and participate in social distancing. This means that as of March 20, 2020, we have had to lay off a number of our teaching and support staff.
Our primary focus beyond the health of our students and staff is implementing an online learning portal to allow us to bring our teachers back and have them deliver the curriculum virtually from their homes. We are exploring every avenue to ensure we can support our faculty and students through this. Our team is committed to helping our students learn and grow in their educational pursuits.
This will take some time, but we are leveraging the support of local partners to expedite the process and ask for patience on the part of students, parents and staff as we do our due diligence.
We are so looking forward to being able to open our campus doors again and welcome our local and international students back. Until then, we will work hard to keep you updated.
